I have another project to share, this one also created for the Heidi Swapp Color Shine Tried and Tested Feature for Australian Scrapbook Ideas Issue 24.

Yesterday it was all about altering flowers and chipboard with these fabulous bottles of gorgeous colour. Today , lets give them a go at some background altering as I explored with my project 'Oh Baby'. 

I started with this for my base - Glitz Designs Finnley Bows Paper:

For my layout,  ‘Wild and Free’  I found that I could add a splash of gorgeous, happy colour to the Bows paper and create a unique background with Color Shine Sprays. 

I started off by randomly misting the darker background with White Color Shine. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it made a noticeable impact and didn’t just disappear. The sprays do blend so well and you can create interesting effects by blending a few colours over the top of each other though I do recommend that you let each colour application dry before adding a new colour. I also recommend reinforcing your background paper with a piece of chipboard to fit or heavier cardstock. This assists with keeping the paper flat and reduces some of the buckling and warping of paper as it dries. 

Try creating masked detail with the many masks/templates/stencils that are now readily available on the market. I used a 12 x 12 Prima chevron mask and Navy Color Shine over the top of the previously applied White Color Shine as a subtle effect. White Gesso and a little texture paste was randomly 'swipped' over the middle part of the background design. When this had dried, a combination of Primrose, Georgia Peach and Mustard were then heavily spritzed.

Runs of colour are easily created by holding the paper vertical and spritzing with the nozzle closer to the page. Take the lid off and flick to create ink splots.

Australian Scrapbook Ideas-Heidi Swapp Color Shine Feature 1

Today I am sharing the first of my projects recently created for Scrapbook Ideas Magazine issue 25, Tried and Tested 'Heidi Swapp Color Shine Feature.

Now, if by chance you haven’t tried Heidi Swapp Color Shine Sprays,  I warn you, once sprayed, you will be hooked. I just love how these 2 oz. bottles combine a vibrant splash of colour with an iridescent shine.

Color Shine can easily colour flowers which is great if you don’t have blooms to suit a project or you just want to add a little intensity to the colour that they already are. The flowers do not necessarily have to be white to start with. I tried them out on Manor House Creations flowers that were already coloured as well as white, both with great results.

Primrose and Mustard Color Shine was used on pale pink Minuettes and yellow Mayglo to add intensity and to co ordinate with the brightly coloured Glitz Designs Wild and Free papers and embellishments. Mustard Color Shine also easily altered smaller white blooms to co ordinate.

The Color Shine colours are intense and easily alter chipboard. For lighter colours I recommend that the chipboard be painted with a coat of white gesso. This just assists with the colour remaining vibrant and not soaking into the material.

A Twiddleybitz chipboard feather was given the Color Shine treatment. The end result is a variegated effect. Primrose and Georgia Peach were randomly spritzed over the front surface. Once dry, a little white gesso was dabbed over some of the areas, with Teal and Mustard adding the finishing colour touches.

Class Projects in Review

Popping in today to share some class projects which I have recently taught.

Last month I headed up the Hume Highway to a lovely spot - Harvest Home in Avenel. This was where a lovely group of ladies were staying for Scraphappy Kat's Retreat.

We kicked off Friday night's proceedings with this one:

'Hello Sunshine'

The main focus of this class was altering the Twiddleybitz Chipboard. We had lots of colour fun with Heidi Swapp Color Shine and Tim Holtz Distress Stains.

Color Sprays were also used to alter the Manor House Creations flowers. The ladies also got a little scissor happy and had the opportunity to 'layer' up their pages.

Saturday's class was all about floral beauty:

'Absolutely Fabulous' 

Class participants explored the arrangement of floral elements as well as altering. We certainly got our 'spring' on with these beauties by Manor House Creations

Fairy Princess

A happy little share today - this one combines Glitz Designs Hello Friend papers with Twiddleybitz Chipboard and beautiful Manor House flowers.

A larger decorative circle element was created by using a Martha Stewart corner punch and punching around the edge of a large circle. To create the circle, I actually traced around the outer edge of a large dinner plate and cut around with some scissors. 

A Twiddleybitz Small Swirls Overlay frames the photo with the park bench element from the Lamp Post and Park Bench chipboard piece altered to create a little shutter effect. I separated the park bench and removed the lower legs to create a flat edge.

A Tall Mushroom and the remaining Lamp Post were altered with some Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint.  A little texture was added with a few plastic shards, with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist then sprayed over the top. Distress Ink was used to add some definition around the outer edges of the chipboard pieces. 

Lots of layering with some fussy cut floral elements, Kaiser Secret Admirer Collectables and an assortment of Manor House flowers - 

Petite Roses lightly misted to coordinate, Glitter Roses Pink and Red, Ballroom Waltz and Pink Celeste  feature.

Color Combos Galore Challenge 237 is: Raspberry Delight!

And what a delight it is: 

Here is my take on the Inspiration Board:

I worked with papers from the Inkido Sunshine Collection with a touch of Glitz Designs Love You Madly for Turquoise and Prima Divine for the Pear colour.

Main Focus was from Inspiration Photo 1 where the focus was on tools. Die cut elements were created using Memory Box Dies for the floral spray and butterfly. Corner punches were also used to add a decorative element to some of the patterned papers. Border punches created decorative strips.

The posy of flowers in Photo 1 were the inspiration for the clusters of pretty Manor House Creations and Prima blooms. The fret work of the box was the inspiration for the embossed element sitting behind the photo. 

From Inspiration Photo 2: Focus on Typography -  A mixed font title was added with a digital Ali Edwards brush to the photo. 'You are my most favourite memory' is also a digital brush from the same Ali Edwards set - I printed this one out in the raspberry hex colour onto paper and then cut around and attached. I also took inspiration from the word 'favourite' as included in the title as well as the picture of the frame reflected in the larger square patterned paper elements and the Twiddleybitz chipboard garden gazebo frame element.

Color Combo's Galore Challenge #236 is 'IN THE NAVY'

Something gorgeous, bold and a just a little bit trendy:

Had lots of fun with with this and loved where the inspiration took me with

'Sometimes I get carried away' 

...well, don't we all from time to time.  It's good to smile and laugh out loud.

O.K so this color palette screamed Glitz Designs 'Yours Truly' with a touch more of the navy from Glitz 'Love You Madly'.

I took inspiration from Photo #1 with the Focus on Trend - Banners.  I **heart** banners and just a few of my pojects will include these sweet embellishments.  Here I created a larger banner effect with coordinating papers which sits under the photo.  I included the lighter gray of the palette as a contrast to the bolder mustard and red and chevron and damask patterns of the papers.

 From photo 1, inspiration was also taken from the bottle label with the inclusion of an elephant - this one was a fussy cut image from one of the Glitz papers. From the banners, I also took inspiration from the alphabet letters and polka dot paper.  The background patterned paper has some large lettering and polka dots are seen on the gray patterned paper used in the creation of the banner.

Something a little 'tweet' with the Twiddleybitz chipboard birdie as inspired by the bird image in Photo #3 and the little funky Twiddleybitz birdcage, inspired by the birdcage element as seen in Photo #4.

From the wooden table also seen in Photo #4, I was also inspired to include some wooden clothespins which I colored red.

This week's Challenge: CCG #234 is Moonlight Serenade!

I really like these colors together and have a particular fondness for blue gray. Although these are not always colors that I choose to work with for papercrafting I thank CCG for the challenge and making me get my 'blue gray' mojo on.

I chose Inspiration Photo #2 – “Focus On Product - Flowers" as the focus for my layout. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my flowers. Here I clustered an assortment of Prima and Manor House Creations blooms - the larger brown roses incorporated as a contrast to the softer toning.

The background of my base paper (recycled Prima 12 x 12 mask packaging) was altered with some pattern detail from Inspiration Photo #4 (using a mask) along with some embossing powder from Inspiration Photo #1. Clear Sparkle was used over the top of some texture paste to add subtle shimmer.

Some stamped bird elements with ink were also added from Inspiration Photo #3. I used Kaisercraft Periwinkle Clear Stamps for these feathered beauties. 

Glitz Design Love You Madly patterned papers along with a touch of Melissa Frances were combined with Twiddleybitz Chipboard Elements - FRA017 Queen Anne Oval Frame, XMAS033 Christmas Flourish and Stars, FRA004 Vic Coll Fancy Oval Frame and ALP004 Twiddley Square Alpha all of which were inked with Maya Road Metallic Silver.
